    George Lucas to re-release Indiana Jones films in 3D

    First Star Wars, now Indiana Jones. George Lucas is to convert the adventure saga starring Harrison Ford to 3D in advance of a re-release in cinemas. The 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, the opening film in the series, will be the first to get the treatment. Spielberg, who directed all four films, has his own 3D project, The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, in the works.

    I’ve got a tip about new software called MakeMe3D that can do automatic 2D to 3D video conversions, so I've decided to do a quick test and share my experience, so you will know what to expect from it. The software is being developed by a German company called Engelmann Media, who are apparently specialized in the production of audio/video-related software tools. MakeMe3D is commercial software.

    Converting a 2D Image into a Stereoscopic 3D Image with Photoshop

    Here is one interesting video tutorial that I stumbled across that demonstrates a simple, but effective technique to create a depth map of a 2D photo or another image and then use the depth map to convert it to stereoscopic 3D image in a Side by Side format.

    The topic of 2D to 3D conversion is getting hot lately, mostly because of a lot of new movies being shot in 2D and then converted to 3D (not so well done) and all that is resulting in not very satisfied viewers that are disappointed from what they see in the cinema.     The 2D to 3D Realtime Video Conversion Script for Avisynth v0.3 was designed to be used for realtime conversion, but it can as well be used to get a permanent video converted from 2D to 3D. Here is a guide on how to use it together with VirtualDub to output converted to 3D video files directly.

    Realtime 2D to Stereoscopic 3D Conversion from Live TV Source

    Here is how with the help of the 3Dfier DS filter you can convert 2D to 3D live TV feed coming from a TV tuner, but I had to use the Stereoscopic Player instead of Nvidia's 3D Vision Video Player as only the first one supports the Live Video mode for use with TV tuners and other video capture devices.

    Roxio has released their Creator 2011 software suite claiming it to be the world's first digital media suite to offer a comprehensive feature set for capturing, editing, creating, and sharing personal 3D photos and 3D videos.
