    Beauty and the Beast 3D Conversion Coming on Blu-ray 3D

    It seems that soon after Disney releases their 2D to 3D conversion of the Lion King animation for a short run in 3D movie theaters and then when it becomes available on Blu-ray 3D media, they are also going to have the Beauty and the Beast in 3D (converted from 2D) on Blu-ray 3D. The date is 4th of October in the US and you can already pre-order the Beauty and the Beast on Blu-ray 3D.

    Gundam 3DS Announced! – 3DS Conference 2011

    Gundam gans get excited! At Nintendo's pre-TGS 3DS Conference, they revealed a new Gundam title for the Nintendo 3DS. The title is set for release on the 22nd of December, 2011 and is to be titled SD Gundam G Generation 3D. The game will feature the chibi Gundam of the SD (super-deformed) Gundam series.

    The Movie Top Gun Being Revived With a 2D to 3D Conversion

    It seems that another old and popular movie will be getting the 2D to 3D treatment and hitting back the big screen, this time it is Tony Scott’s 1986 classic movie Top Gun starring Tom Cruise. A four-minute preview of the converted movie showing some aerial flight sequences has been screened at the IBC currently being held in Amsterdam, with the fully converted movie expected in 2012.

    Star Wars: Episode I to be converted in 3D by Prime Focus

    Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) officially announced the company that they have selected to do the conversion from 2D to 3D for the first movie from the Star Wars saga and that company is Prime Focus. Utilizing Prime Focus’ proprietary View-D process for the conversion the new release of the Phantom Menace is scheduled to hit 3D theater screens on February 10, 2012.

    3D is medium of the future, feels Bollywood

    With several Hollywood biggies undergoing full 3D conversion in India, the country is being considered as a hub for the conversion from 2D (normal/reeling) shooting to 3D and is on the international radar for the same. Even though Bollywood too is seriously thinking about 3D projects for their releases in the coming future, no conversions have been done as yet.
